The Impact of Youth Work Training

Training Course

8-12 May 2017 | Tampere, Finland

The main aim of The Impact of Youth Work Training is to understand why it is important to measure the impact of youth work and Erasmus+ projects.

Understanding the impact of youth work plays an ever growing role in contemporary Europe. The impact of work and activities is often used to argue how much money youth work gets, how human resources are spread to different sectors and even bluntly if activities will be carried on or finished. Youth workers and other people working with young people have to learn, how to point out the results of their work, how to measure impact and how to deliver it to sustain good services and diverse activities. Do we have these skills in youth work?

The Impact of Youth Work Training focuses on defining what impact means. It also discusses the reasons why impact should be made visible and who we should address with our evaluation results. The training discusses the ideas of impact, effectiveness, equality and quality in relation to the nature of youth work.

Aims of the training:
– to explore impact in youth work on different levels
– to give participants practical tools to measure the impact of their work
– to develop competences to create evaluation processes that are suitable to different levels: young people, organisation, local community, other stakeholders and funders
– to understand the principles of participatory evaluation

Training days are named after main methods used: Youth work story telling, Transformative evaluation and Deliberative discussion. Each day includes simulation of the method, theory and implementing method to participant’s own practice.
